Incompetence, Insanity, or Corruption?
Which is it? Liberals are making it awfully hard to tell.
Hello friends!
Parliament is back in session, and the Liberals are back in the hot seat. The Christmas break ended with another series of scandalous revelations around Justin Trudeau and his NDP-Liberal government, beginning with his $84,000 Jamaican vacation. On the ArriveScam front, new revelations around the Liberal procurement system have us scratching our heads. Is it insanity, incompetence, or corruption?
Winter session is just getting started, but the Liberals are already in hot water and in over their head.
Trudeau’s $84,000 Christmas Vacation
Trudeau revealed once again just how out of touch he is with Canadians when he smugly brushed off questions about his lavish Christmas vacation. The accommodations alone were valued at $84,000, but he claims that “like many Canadians, he stayed with friends”. Take a look.
NDP-Liberals Continue to Blockade the Truth about ArriveScam
At the Public Accounts committee, before session had even resumed, NDP and Liberal MPs voted to shut down a meeting where the Auditor General’s team was set to answer questions about an upcoming report on ArriveCan.
When it comes to this Liberal government, and this scandal in particular, I’m continually struck by just how blatant the lies are. Take a look at the kind of responses coming from witnesses who are supposed to have nothing to hide.
But there is lying for lying’s sake, and there is dishonesty rooted in fear.
A few weeks after providing frank and open testimony before committee, two senior public servants were notified of internal investigations into their conduct and then suspended without pay. How many public servants are keeping their mouths shut (or even lying outright) out of genuine fear of reprisal?
The CBSA President denies that this was retaliation, instead claiming that she was simply “trying to get to the bottom of this”. Take a look at her testimony and judge for yourself.
Finally, new and shocking revelations from the ArriveCan watchdog report revealed just how broken this government’s contracting protocol really is. Under the current system, vendors who charge the least are penalized the most, needlessly driving up government spending on procurement.
What’s worse, the system makes it nearly impossible for people without government contracting experience to compete for contracts, meaning that well-connected Liberal insiders end up with more juicy contracts like ArriveCan.
Euthanasia Report: MAID Expansion to be Delayed by 3 Years
Following the recent report by the Special Joint Committee dealing with MAID, the Liberal government announced that it would delay its controversial expansion of euthanasia laws to include those whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness. This sets the timeline for expansion to March 2027.
While not a closed book, this is still a victory. Conservatives will continue to stand with the most vulnerable and push the government to scrap this expansion altogether. A delay is better than nothing.
The Importance of Integrity
Canadians want politicians who will be forthcoming about their positions regardless of who they are speaking with, and that is a quality which the current government simply does not have. Conservatives will continue to be the party of integrity in Canada, being truthful and unrelenting in what we stand for.
Trudeau’s Unconstitutional Use of the Emergencies Act
Two weeks ago, the Federal Court made a monumental decision regarding the Trudeau government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act in response to the vaccine mandate protests of 2022. The final ruling was that the government’s use of these powers was both unreasonable and unconstitutional.

ICYMI: Other Recent Columns
During the break I continued to write my column with Sherwood Park News. Here are a few of my other recent columns in case you missed them, along with a year in review/looking ahead article:
OPQs: Asking the Tough Questions
There are a lot of tools in an MPs toolbox that can be used to hold the government accountable, and one of them is Order Paper Questions (often referred to as OPQs or Written Questions). These are longer form questions that ask for specific information about a given issue, and the government must reply within a certain timeframe.
I recently got an answer back from the Liberal government to a question I asked about immigration, and I think you’ll find the answer interesting. Take a look.
In another question, I asked the government for information about development assistance projects in Israel and Palestinian and the organizations involved. The response failed to include some important details, which raises the question of whether they were intentionally trying to hide that information.
If you have ideas for Written Questions, feel free to share them with me. I am always open to hearing from constituents and Canadians in general about their concerns, and welcome your input about which issues I should raise with the government.
Bill S-210: Protecting Children from Sexually Explicit Content Online
I recently had the opportunity to speak at two town halls in Toronto on Bill S-210. This is an important bill that will mandate meaningful age verification on pornographic websites, to protect children from exposure to violent sexual content.
Astonishingly, this bill does not have unanimous support in the House of Commons. In fact, the vast majority of Liberal MPs voted against it.
I will be sharing more about this important bill at a town hall to be hosted at my constituency office on March 12th. More details to come on this, so stay tuned.

Honestly I am really upset with the conservatives supporting S-210...........part of that bill includes the use of facial recognition software......a slippery slope to digital ID....no use of VPN's is also problematic...this is a slippery slope which could eventually lead to everyone having to submit to facial recognition software........foot in the door tactic....resulting in more surveillance by the state and more state control and power... Canadians need less censorship and more truth....we all can see the disaster of bills C-10 and C-11
I believe their movements are deliberate, although completely insane. Cozying up to China is an example. Day after day they work on demolishing Canada as we have known it. Once, when going to school, you applied for a Canada Student loan. Now it is a National Student Loan. Why? Sounds like something from the socialist/communists playbook. Bring back our proud, strong and God-fearing Nation and all she stands for. Anyone who thinks things are going okay in Canada is very naïve. Listening to the mainstream media normalizes bizarre propaganda. I am praying for a turn-around where lying, sleazy politicians are a thing of the past in our country and people once again can think and be free.
