Fighting For Canadian Jobs
Unemployment is on the rise because of bad Liberal policy. We're fighting back.
Parliament is finally back in session.
After serving as Shadow Minister for International Development for the past 5 years, I have been tasked with an important new file: Employment. In this new capacity I will be fighting for Canadian jobs.
Unemployment has been rising ever since the end of the pandemic. It is now at the highest point in 10 years outside of the pandemic, and youth unemployment has exceeded a staggering 14%.
Bad Liberal policies are hurting our economy and undermining opportunities for young Canadians.
The Youth Unemployment Crisis
Your first job is your most important job. Yet, Liberal failures have blocked the path to a good first job for one in seven young Canadians.
Jobs Barely Mentioned in Government Priorities
King Charles delivered the Liberal government’s throne speech a couple of days ago. Although King Charles read the speech, it was written by the government to outline their agenda for the upcoming Parliament. Notably, jobs are barely mentioned in the entire speech, with no acknowledgement whatsoever of the current jobs crisis.

My Swearing-In Ceremony
Last Saturday, I was officially sworn into the 45th Parliament. I talked about the importance of good jobs in Canada.
A job is a way to earn a living, but it is more than that. For many people, a job is a critical source of meaning. It helps us serve our communities, provide for our families, learn skills, and find our place in the world.

Lowering The Bar On Accountability
Sadly, Mark Carney has announced that he will not be taking up the Prime Minister Question Period tradition.
My Latest Column: A Budget Beats No Budget
In my latest column, I shared my opinion on Mark Carney’s decision not to table a budget this spring.
In my opinion, Mark Carney’s decision to forego tabling a federal budget in the usual time frame is a baffling and reckless move that undermines transparency, economic stability, and his own campaign promises. During last month’s election, Carney leaned heavily on the slogan “a plan beats no plan,” positioning himself as a serious economist ready to steer Canada through turbulent times. Yet, following the election, he has failed the first and most basic test of leadership. Canada needs a plan at this critical juncture. He will not be presenting one.
Upcoming Constituency Events
Summer is almost here! If you’re living in or near my riding, be sure to mark your calendar for the following events:
Summer Day Camp for Kids
If you’re a parent living in or near my riding, mark your calendar for this year’s Politics Day Camp, scheduled for July 28-30.
This is a fun, interactive way for kids to begin learning about how politics works by trying it out for themselves (using entirely fictional situations). I don’t think there is a better way for kids to learn about the importance of (and the challenge of) politics!
We’re still finalizing some of the details, but if you want to be notified as soon as registration opens, click here to email my office with the subject line “SUMMER CAMP” and we’ll add you to the mailing list.
Annual Summer BBQ
On June 21st, my office will be hosting our annual barbecue! It will be taking place in the parking lot of RONA + Sherwood Park (Emerald Hills). Come by anytime between 12:30-2:30 to join us for some good food and good fun. Drop ins welcome — come whenever you can, and stay as long as you like.
I always appreciate hearing from Canadians in my riding and across the country. Feel free to email my office at garnett.genuis@parl.gc.ca or share your feedback in the comments below.
All the best,

Apparently after voting in favor of Carney providing a budget before the summer break, the NDP have flipped and are supporting Carney's no budget. I wonder how many tax dollars it took to bribed the NDP.
But no a single word of the attack carried out against the Canadian diplomats being fired on from 2 different directions by the IDF in the West Bank earlier this week they had them in a cross fire and our people broadcast it live lots of people watching same as I did.
