Canada Under Attack
My New Documentary, More Church Burnings, and the Auditor General's ArriveScam Report
Hello friends,
Since my last update, my team and I have been hard at work on some major projects. I recently released a mini-documentary on the Iranian regime and the IRGC, we hosted events in Ottawa coinciding with International Development Week, and we have been knee deep in more ArriveScam hearings since the Auditor General’s damning report was released last week.
My New Documentary: Canada Under Attack
We are in a complex time in history, one that I am actively referring to as the New Cold War. Canada and its democratic allies are facing aggressive opposition from a new, anti-democratic bloc of regimes, with the Iranian regime and the IRGC fueling terroristic violence around the world. In this documentary, I try to unpack the situation, placing special emphasis on the threat that the Iranian regime poses to international security and what we can do about it.
Incompetence of International Proportions
In a recent Foreign Affairs committee meeting, the minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, appeared as a witness to speak to Canada’s diplomatic capacity overseas. When I asked about the government’s position on an important UN mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she mistook it for Haiti — the wrong continent altogether — and then proceeded to avoid answering the question entirely.
In the same committee meeting, Joly gave nothing but excuses as to why her government still hasn’t listed the IRGC as a terrorist organization, even after she voted in favour of a Conservative motion to do so six years ago. Astonishingly, Liberals have continually blocked efforts to advance my bill C-350 which would accomplish exactly that and more.
Auditor General Testifies on ArriveScam
Last Monday, the Auditor General released her damning report on the ArriveCan app. The total cost of the app, previously estimated at about $54 million, is now up to at least $60 million — but it could be more! The AG reported that it is “impossible to determine” how much the app cost due to the terrible record-keeping.
The more layers we peel back on this scandal, the more flabbergasting it becomes. Not only is it unclear how or why GC Strategies was awarded the contract (that is, if you ignore the cozy ties that they and other insiders seem to have with the Liberal government), it turns out that they helped to develop the requirements for other competitive contracts relating to the app — requirements that kept the price of the project high and ensured that other insiders were the only ones able to get a cut. The entire process was rigged!
This week, emergency meetings were called in multiple committees in the wake of the Auditor General’s report. More of what we already knew was confirmed in these meetings, but when Conservatives moved a motion that would force the insider consultants at GC Strategies to appear before committee, the Liberals filibustered! What are they hiding?
Ukraine and Developing Canadian Energy
I recently gave a speech on the modernized Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement. You can watch my full remarks here. In that speech, I gave a concise overview of the Conservative position on C-57. You can watch that here.
Canada has a unique role and responsibility to develop our energy sector. Doing so will create jobs for Canadian workers, while also supporting our allies with energy security. Rather than develop our energy sector to support allies and free them from their dependence on authoritarian states like Russia, Liberals are dead set on exporting their carbon tax ideology.
New Column: Putin Is Still Wrong
I would also encourage you to read through my recent column for the Sherwood Park News where I debunk some of the arguments that many people will have heard in Putin’s recent interview with Tucker Carlson. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who may be inclined to believe his justifications for invading Ukraine.
“Russia’s leaders complaining about NATO enlargement is a bit like a would-be burglar complaining about my new alarm system. The fact that they claim to feel threatened by the enlargement of a defensive alliance is itself revealing of malicious intentions.”
NDP MP Refuses to Condemn Church Burnings
Last week, an arsonist attempted to set fire to Blessed Sacrament Parish in Regina. This adds them to the list of nearly 100 churches that have suffered vandalism or arson over the past year, many of which are on Indigenous Land and serve as sacred spaces for Indigenous Christians and their communities. When asked if she would join us in condemning these horrific acts of anti-Indigenous violence, this NDP MP seemed unable or unwilling to understand the question and refused.
Fighting the Expansion of MAID
My colleague and I recently had the opportunity to speak in the House on the issue of euthanasia being offered to those seeking help. Imagine going to a doctor, a therapist, or a government department for help, and being offered facilitated suicide instead. Conservatives have proposed not allowing euthanasia to be suggested unless it is raised first by a person seeking it.
New Podcast Episode (and Videos!)
Two weeks ago I shared that my office would be hosting a symposium to coincide with international development week. The symposium was a huge success (a special thank you to our speakers who made it possible!) and I am pleased to be able to share the entire symposium with you as the most recent episode of my podcast, Resuming Debate. You can listen to the full symposium wherever you listen to podcasts by following the links below, or watch it on my YouTube channel where each talk has been uploaded as a separate video.
And lastly, a very special thank you to the Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to be the keynote speaker on February 21st. It was great to be able to speak to so many local business owners and provide an update on Parliament. A huge thank you to the Broadmoor Golf Course for the delicious lunch.
Mr Genuis, thank you for standing up when so much is at stake in Canada. Your report is excellent and I always look forward to the content. The previous commenter has severe TDS; so please ignore those who can’t see the brilliance of President Trump and his goals for a better future for all. If Trump does not succeed in November, we’re done. The globalist’s Agenda 2030 will be our new policy, and our freedoms will be gone. Left wing ignorance could be our downfall. Continue to speak truth.
Garnet...agree the Liberals have errored badly. Good comments generally speaking. Unfortunately your right wing, Trump like leader Pierre Poilievre keeps turning even the most diehard Conservative off. His need for trying to impress people with his disgusting and arrogant attitude defeats your efforts
Punt this clown and you'll ,gain a whole lot of support. Lost my vote because of attitude. He's the last person to be calling out Trudeau for costumes when his advisors now have to dress him!!!
